Alexandra Nelson is a sister, friend, and daughter.
She is also a curator, art practitioner, strategist, leader, and educator. Ohio born and Atlanta and globally educated, Alexandra develops programs, exhibitions, and experiences at a nexus of her academic and lived experiences.
Alexandra’s first informal introduction to the world of art was through attending estate sales with her grandpa. By going to these sales, she watched her grandfather curate his home with Black memorabilia and Afrodiasporic interior design, creating a legacy of his own.
Now based in New York, Alexandra is is dedicated to producing experiences and programming that combine art, scholarship, and community. She is inspired by events such as The Loophole of Retreat and Black Portraitures.
She has experience in project management, audio engineering, curation, education, and more. She has led various projects such as Black Kid Art, The Blue Record Podcast, and exhibitions such as 21+Up and Together: Selections from the Cochran Collection of African-American Art.
